Wilde at the Winery - Fraser Valley

Now in our third year, we’re thrilled to announce the return of Wilde at the Winery to the Fraser Valley. See one of Oscar Wilde’s most popular plays, The Importance of Being Earnest, performed live in our picturesque south Langley vineyard the last two weekends of July. Township 7 is delighted to partner with Bare Bones Production on this perfect pairing of wine and the arts.

First produced over a century ago in London on Valentine’s Day in 1895, the play was forced to close after only 83 performances due to Wilde’s notoriously biting wit and flamboyant lifestyle.  Set in late Victorian England, the play revolves around switched identities, and the humour derives in part from characters maintaining fictitious identities to escape unwelcome social obligations. It is infused with witty dialogue and satirizes the conventions and hypocrisy of the time

Guests are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy Township 7 wines for an entertaining evening of live theatre on the Bench. Partial proceeds in support of the local charity Young Life for the July 20-21 performances and to the Foundation Funding in Action for the July 27-28 performances.  This event sells out quickly, for tickets please contact wine@township7.com or 604-532-1766.

    Time: July 20-21 & 27-28, 2012
6:00 gates open / play commences at 6:30 pm
