Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Tasting Notes:
A bold and racy year for Cabernet Sauvignon. The cold winter was followed by an outstanding growing season. The fruit exhibited round rich flavours at picking amid near-perfect harvest conditions. Aged in French and American oak for 26 months. Soft dried bergamot herb and berries on the nose. Cherry pie and secondary flavours of caramel, cedar and leather on the palate. Unfiltered. Good structure. Will drink well through 2018. A great accompaniment to filet mignon or lamb.
Vintage Report
The climate during the 2008 growing season was optimal. An intemperate winter was replaced by ideal spring and summer weather and then a long, mild and dry fall harvest. These quintessential Okanagan conditions produced grapes with optimum ripeness. Slightly lower yields resulted in increased quality levels. A very good year overall, with fruit reaching excellent maturation levels with beautifully balanced colour, flavours, and acidity.

2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
Daenna Van Mulligen | winescores.ca / Vines Magazine
Township 7 shows consistency and quality in their wines alongside generous fruit supported with structure. This Cabernet Sauvignon includes 15% Cabernet Franc in the blend, making for a wonderfully fragrant wine. Chocolate, mint leaf and cassis notes jump out of the glass, with dried herbs, spice and the scent of wild strawberries on the tail end. It has a slight chewiness on the palate from fine tannins and some nice focus from well-balanced acidity that boosts flavours of dark fruit, tobacco, brown spices and toasted oak. Pair this wine with filet mignon or lamb.

Open peppery, meaty, spicy nose with smoky, cassis aromas tobacco, mint and black olive. Dry, round, elegant but somewhat tight. Cassis, spicy, leafy, mineral, earthy, tobacco flavours. Nice finesse and balance. Should improve in bottle over the next two to three years.

A cleaner version of the ‘05 with a softer, slipperier entry and mid-palate with plenty of smoky oak and peppery, black cherry fruit. Still young and angular with a definite tart mid-palate and finish. Best tamed with roast beef or game for the moment otherwise hold for three to five years.
