Syrah 2009
Tasting Notes:
The peppery notes of our Syrah come through in concert with cherry and a hint of pipe tobacco. The palate expresses Bing cherry and cola. In keeping with the traditional style of Syrah winemaking in Côte-Rôtie, we co-ferment with 8% Viognier, providing an additional soft aromatic essence to the wine. Barrel aged for 22 months in French and American oak with less than 400 cases produced. Ideal with traditional French dishes such as cassoulet and duck confit. Unfiltered.
Vintage Report
A challenging winter reduced the crop, but the remaining grapes excelled during the long, dry growing season. September’s picture perfect weather with 20 days of 20° Celsius temperatures enabled a smooth harvest of full, round clusters of balanced ripe fruit.

2007 Syrah
Janet Dorozynski | National Post / Wine Align, February 1, 2012
As we near the weekend, here is the ideal partner for an impromptu dinner party with friends. Made from 98% Syrah, from BC’s hot and dry Black Sage Road, this wine is co-fermented with 2% Viognier to add lift and aromatics. A lush but elegant wine, with a characteristic flavour profile of Northern Rhone Syrah – black and red berries, white pepper, dried herbs and smoked meat. Medium/full-bodied, with soft ripe tannins and balanced acidity. Showing some development and evolution, it is drinking well now and over the next two years.
2009 Syrah
Beppi Crosariol | Globe & Mail, February 24, 2012
Full-bodied with a sour-plum start, it’s built on a spine of firm acidity, nodding at France’s Rhône Valley with hints of smoked meat and black pepper. It’s ideal for beef back ribs braised in red wine and herbs.
Syrah 2009

Township 7 borrows a French process to score a perfect balance between new world freshness and old world technique. Cassoulet was born to go with a hearty Rhone red, and BC’s Township 7 does one of the best interpretations of a French Cote-Rotie with their Syrah. The secret is to co-ferment it with a small amount (8%) of the white grape viognier, which gives lovely aromatics on the nose and lightens the palate just a tad to soften the leathery and cooked meat notes from the Syrah. It's a wine that’s both elegant and muscular (and under $30—bonus.)
