Enjoy a spine-tingling adult treat while handing out candy this Halloween! We recently released a new vintage of our Riesling, and it’s perfect for pairing with candies that don’t make it to the goodie bags.
Our Benchmark Series 2020 Riesling is crafted from 100% Riesling grapes originating from the Fool’s Gold Vineyard in north Oliver. Under the ownership of longtime vineyard manager Mark Antonello, it was planted over two decades ago by his father-in-law, the esteemed viticulturist Richard Cleave. The vineyard’s sandy clay loam soil, rich in rocks and gravel, ensures superb drainage. After gentle pressing and cold settling, fermentation occurred at cool temperatures in stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels. The extended 6-week fermentation retained delicate fruit aromas. This vintage offers a clean and pure expression of the varietal with lime, pineapple, and apricot aromas. The crisp and juicy palate carries a subtle mineral quality. Its vibrant acidity promises graceful aging in the bottle over the coming years. Less than 500 cases made, it is available at Township 7’s south Langley and Naramata Bench wineries and online.
So, what’s the best candy to pair with this exceptional Riesling? We suggest Sour Patch Kids or SweeTARTS. The semisweet and citrusy flavour of the candies makes them a perfect treat to enjoy with Riesling’s fruity and acidic flavours.
Make your Halloween celebration a little more spooktacular! The Benchmark Series Riesling is available now at both our south Langley and Naramata Bench wineries.
